Botanical description: The plant is a herb, 21–51 cm tall; rhizomatous, rhizome decumbent, thick, densely covered with scales, brownish, lanceolate-ovate, entire margins; fronds divided; stipes brown, 11–21 cm long, rachises, costate, and stalk the same color with stipe, glabrous; basal pair of pinnae large, three-pinnate, oval–elliptical, 5.2–13.1 × 4.2–7.1 cm long; pinnules five pairs per lateral pinna, alternate, upward oblique, with a short stalk, flagellate, 7.1–10.1 × 7.1–10.2 mm, greenish, brownish-green, glabrous on both surfaces; vein multi-dichotomous forked, pinnule margin toothed, visible on both surfaces; sori 2 or 3(or 4); brown, membranous, orbicular, upper margin deep, persistent, entire (Fig. 5.2).
